Something Different (sort of)

Etsy selling has been a bit slow, so I'm focusing on swaps for a bit. The piece above is a postcard for a wings themed challenge. It got a bit crazy with the details (I got a couple of new punches at Michaels and couldn't resist using them), but I had fun doing it.

Weekends

Weekends can be a little rough on us. We have a weekday morning and evening routine, but spending the whole day together can sometimes throw us for a loop. Yesterday was definitely one of those days. I was out of practice at weekends after being gone to SC last weekend. Harper was fussy (that could be from the little sniffly cold she has too), and I had things to get done. It got to the point where she was so exhausted (but wouldn't nap) that I finally had to just put her in her crib and let her fuss herself to sleep. I hate those kinds of days.

Today is a much better day so far. She woke up talking instead of crying (she's woken up early (for her - 5 AMish) and upset while she's had her little head cold), and she's been in a great mood so far today. She got a little fussy at nap time, but we compromised and took a little snooze together.

I'm hoping for a smooth rest of the day.

Laughing Girl

Laughing Girl, originally uploaded by shellypaints.

She was getting such a big kick tonight out of handing things back and forth. When the puppet got involved, she laughed her head off. I managed to catch some of it.

Check this out!

I'm probably crazy to share this with everyone, but check out what Jean at her Bluebirds Living in the Meadow blog is giving away for her blog's anniversary!

Photo of the yummy giveaway on Jean's blog.

A Second Sale!

While I was away in South Carolina visiting Judy, I sold another collage on Etsy! Don't worry... I won't post each and every sale I make, but it's still so novel to me that someone wants to purchase my artwork that I can't help it!
I'm planning to make prints of the two pieces I sold because they are two of my favorites too. Besides, I want a copy! :)

My First Etsy Sale!

One of my very favorite collages is headed on its way to a new home in Oregon. I made my first Etsy sale! YAAAAY!!! I'm just ridiculously grateful that someone wants to buy my work and thrilled that I actually made a sale. :) Another YAAAAAY!

Guess what?!

The incredibly talented (and prolific) Suzan Buckner featured my work on her blog! See the blog post HERE.

I'm beyond flattered that Suzan likes my work enough to not only blog about it, but to say such nice things about it! And she even gives Miss Harper a little big of blog time. Harper was very flattered too!

My Etsy shop is now open!

Well, the day has finally arrived. After spending some quality time early this morning (with Miss Harper's excellent assistance), my Etsy shop is now open for business.

You can click HERE to go to the shop or you can click on My Etsy in the "Places to Go" area of the sidebar. I'll be adding another gadget over on the sidebar shortly that will show pieces currently for sale with a link to go to the shop.

Folks, we have a whole new Harper on our hands

Grooving, originally uploaded by shellypaints.

Reaching ten months old brought along some other "interesting" new growing up baby stuff besides crawling.

Harper won't eat baby food any more. If she can't eat it herself with her fingers or have me put it in her mouth with my fingers, she won't eat it. She purses her lips and turns her head. If that doesn't work for her, her arms start flailing until she has succeeded in flinging that spoon along with the scoop of offending baby food from my hand. She ended up eating cut up carrots, green beans, rice krispies, and a little bit of cooked, cut up macaroni for breakfast. I'm going to have to get up to speed on what in the world to feed her now. We already give her some of those baby "snacks" like yogurt bites, freeze dried apples, and those little puff thingies. Just have to figure out what's going to work for "real" food for her now.

Let's see. What else? She no longer a big fan of afternoon naps. She won't hold still for her diaper changes (every mom who has lived through this squirmy baby stage already knows how that works - or doesn't work as the case may be). She doesn't want to be put down for long.

On the funny new baby stuff front, she "sings" more, loves to row when I sing Row Your Boat, and calls the cat MaMa. :)

Ridiculously Ginormous.

For my birthday (the next gift-receiving occasion that I can think of unless people would like to start giving me gifts on Tuesdays just for fun), I want a ginormous mailbox. Ridiculously ginormous. One that requires special rigging to stay up, I think.

Every time I get a package, instead of being nice and bringing it to my doorstep, Mail Guy crams it into my teeny mailbox. So far everything has survived the Mail Guy's indifference to the possible fragility of the contents of the package, but still. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me.

Well, one of the other people who delivers our mail - Mail Lady - comes in a close second in ridiculousness to Mail Guy. During one of the snows we had a month or so ago, our neighbor plowed some of the street clear with his tractor, but he didn't clear the entire cul de sac. The area near our mailbox had about three uncleared feet from the cleared area to the mailbox where there sat three teeny little inches of snow. The Mail Lady drove through the cleared area of the cul de sac and didn't stop at any of our mail boxes. And you just KNOW that she had mail in there for us. Doesn't she know how important the mail is in my reclusive little life? Geesh.

Ridiculous, I say. Ridiculous. :)

Me

Me, originally uploaded by shellypaints.

Yep, it's me. I finally got my hair cut at lunch today, so I thought I'd take a picture to share. Then I accidently took a picture of the picture I was looking at and decided I liked that better than the original. So there you go.

Happy Birthday Auntie Lea!

I'll translate.

Part 1: Happy Birthday Auntie Lea! Happy Birthday to you!

Part 2: I'm sad that I can't see you on your birthday.

Part 3: Hey, that's my foot.

Happy Birthday! Love you!
