Want [Edited]

5 Things That I Want

1. An autoharp *
2. A personal assistant
3. A baby who cuddles
4. A time machine
5. Continual springtime

* So that I can live my 4th grader dream of being World's Greatest Autoharpist

5 Things That I Wanted, Got, and Do Not/Did Not Take Advantage Of

1. A rock tumbler **
2. A husband who cuddles
3. A Palm Pilot thingy ***
4. An MP3 player
5. A treadmill ****

[Edited to add]
6. Sea Monkeys *****
7. A completely manual camera ******

** My husband bought one for me after hearing that I'd always wanted one as a child. It is still in the box because I found out that it takes 24 days of running that thing continually to make tumbled rocks.
*** I ended up giving that confangled gadget away to someone who might appreciate it.
**** Really no explanation needed here. Just thought more asterisks looked impressive.
***** Don't ask me how you would take advantage of sea monkeys, but I didn't.
****** Who knew that actually taking the film to the store for processing would be my downfall. Oh wait, I probably did.

Still Here

Life is taking the front seat these days, leaving blogging in the back seat. Well, more like a tin can hanging off a string hanging off the tailpipe. Just a quick note to say that we're still around and that we'll be back to blog land one of these days.

Right Idea, Wrong Timing

Have you ever had an idea that occured to you at just the wrong time? Well, that's the story with the new collage below. A few months ago when no one really heard much about real life pirates, this would have been just a cute collage. Now I feel like I've made something just politically incorrect. Sigh. The little boy's flag somehow reminded me of a pirate flag and the rest just happened. About halfway through I realized that making anything celebrating pirates would just not be a good idea, but by then, it was an idea that had to be completed. So here it is, in it's politically incorrect glory.

Still Springing!

Guess who is finally figuring out how to work her camera? Took me long enough! It's a point and shoot for heavens sake. Good thing I'm not a rocket scientist.
Now if I could just get Harper to sit still for a minute.

Funny Girl

I've been trying to capture Harper's newest funny thing on video, but I've been unsuccessful so far. She pinches things and then pretends to eat them. The funny part is that she usually pinches Doug's arm and then tries to feed it to him or she "eats" it herself. A few nights ago, Doug was eating chips and salsa, and she kept pinching the outside of the bag and feeding her imaginary chips to herself. Funny Girl.

Etsy Sale!

I'm having a spring sale in my Etsy shop. Many of the items are marked down and ready to come live with you. Hope you stop on by and take a look! CLICK HERE to go to my shop.

Operation Kitchen Update

After (For now)
Stage 1 of Operation Kitchen Update is almost complete. The walls are painted, and the lights over the island are up. No more florescents, YAY! (Please don't send me comments about florescents being better for the environment. You are welcome to have as many of those things in your house as you want to.) You can't really see the wallpaper in the "before" photo, but it was white with little blue flowers. Very early 1990s. The only pieces left in the first stage are to install the under cabinet lighting and to find and install a fixture over the table.

Stage 2 will be floors, and then stage 3 will be countertops and backsplash. There might be a stage 4 at some point to replace the cabinets on the left side of the photo with something more functional, but we'll see. For now I'm just happy that we don't have blue flowers on the walls any more. The blue and beige laminate on the floor is another story. :)

Lots more Easter photos (and videos) on Flickr.

P.P.S. Sissy Sarah - Grandma's coffee cake DID rise in the oven and tasted just fine! :)

Happy Easter!

Harper was patient enough for a trial run of Easter dresses, but unfortunately, not patient enough for photos in them. Happy Easter!

Happy Thoughts

I'm taking a deep breath in the middle of my super hectic Friday at the end of a super hectic week to share a happy thought. My mom sent an Easter package that arrived today with yummy homemade sugar cookies (in bunny and flower shapes, of course), candy (including my favorite Cadbury Creme Eggs), and some super cute clothes for Miss Harper. In the package was a yellow plastic egg with my name on it. The egg had a quarter and some candy in it. What's so special about a yellow plastic egg, you ask? Well, this happens to be a yellow plastic egg that my Grandpa wrote my name on from many Easters ago when I was just a little girl. My Grandpa would put quarters into eggs for us to hunt. This was MY special egg. Unfortunately, my Grandpa passed away in 1995 (I think that's the right year), but fortunately, I get to remember happy memories of my time with him all those Easters ago.

Happy Easter!

P.S. Thank you again, Mama!

Miss Harper just wanted to say, "Hiya!" (She actually says that...a lot.) :)
And it snowed yesterday. What's up with that?!

And a little note...

As I was looking at the pictures I posted today, I thought I should add a little note about Miss Harper's hair. We don't intentionally give our little peanut a Donald Trump comb-over hairdo. It does it all by itself. She has a very distinct swirl in the back of her hair that refuses to be tamed. Someday I'm sure I'll have to explain to my sweet girl about why she has such a comb-over in all of her baby pictures, so I thought I'd better write a note to defend myself in advance.

11 months (+ 1 day)

It's getting harder and harder to take a photo of this girl. She doesn't hold still. I managed to get one by letting her watch some Blue's Clues (no idea why she likes this show) and then turning it off once I realized that I'd never get her attention while it was on.

In the first one, she's watching the show. In the second one, I'm trying to distract her while she's watching. She knows I'm there, but "Slow Joe" wins (you have to watch the show to understand, I guess). In the third one, I turned off the TV, and voila! A baby who holds still and sort of smiles for two seconds before getting on the move again!

Happy 11 months and one day, Busy Girl!

Something to say

In the back yard, originally uploaded by shellypaints.

Sniffle, sniffle, cough cough. AAAA-CHOO!

Still sick.

Thought maybe a photo from the back yard blooms would make me feel better.

Sad to report that didn't work. Maybe you non-sick people can enjoy them more than I can.

A few more on flickr.
